The infamous Bangla road! Well, first of all, you have to experience it, at least for one! This is my 2nd visit to Phuket, Thailand and this time we stayed right off Bangla road as we wanted to experience the whole ‘chaos’. You can read more about the hotel that i have stayed in my blog.
Back to Bangla road. On evenings, the street is closed for vehicles and turned into pedestrian only access. All the pubs, clubs, ping pong shows, tiger shows etc are the main attractions of this street. There will be some people on the street that approaches you to come over to their pub/etc for drinks/ping pong/tiger shows, decline politely if you are not keen. If you are looking for people watching experience then it is a nice place to do so.
The establishments here are very well catered for the tourist; very ‘mat salleh’ (Caucasians/American) market. As expected the pubs are patronized by mostly men. You can easily find some escorts in the pubs, only if you want to. On the street you will find lots of small kiosk / push cart vendors selling local food, finger food, gadgets or gimmick products and imitation merchandise. Also there are lady boys who dressed up in pretty and sexy clothing on the street offering you to take pictures with them. You are expected to give some tips which ranges from 50-200 baht for taking a photo with them. Overall, it a fun place to be at and ‘carnival’ like atmosphere. Give it a try, after all what’s Phuket without stepping here!!!
