Famosa Chicken Rice Ball… Worth a try!

When we arrived at the front of the restaurant, we were told to order our food there, on the spot. I was like, what? Anyway, order we did.

Apparently the chicken rice balls are ONLY served in some combo set with normal rice. We ordered one whole chicken (yes, apparently the portion is meant for 6 adults!), Asam pedas fish, stir fried cabbage and drinks.

What did I think of the famous chicken? Well, it was okay… not as good as I thought it would be. Or maybe my expectations are too high. The chicken is tender and juicy but the taste is average. Find it to be lack of seasoning. The rice balls and the normal rice are just okay. The asam fish is quite good, it is fresh, cooked well (fish meat is tender) and the asam pedas gravy is nice.

Total damage for lunch was around RM90, which is okay for something that ‘famous’. I don’t think I will be going back there soon as it is not as impressive as I thought it would be. If you have never tried it before, perhaps it’s worth a try, but that’s all needed. The environment of the restaurant is clean and feels like a traditional Chinese house. The service is generally fast.
